✨ About The Role
- The role involves developing production machine learning solutions to enhance the personalized shopping experience across various retail categories within DoorDash's growing grocery and retail delivery business
- Responsibilities include conceptualizing, designing, implementing, and validating algorithmic improvements to the search and personalization experiences, leveraging robust data and machine learning infrastructure
- The Senior Machine Learning Scientist will collaborate with engineering and product leaders to shape the product roadmap leveraging ML, mentor junior team members, and lead cross-functional pods to generate collective impact
- The position reports to the engineering manager on the New Verticals Consumer ML team and is expected to be a hybrid role with some in-office and some remote work
- DoorDash is seeking a passionate Applied Machine Learning expert who can demonstrate a strong command of production-level machine learning, a passion for solving end-user problems, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary teams
âš¡ Requirements
- Experienced machine learning engineer with a minimum of 5 years in the industry, specializing in developing ML models with business impact and shipping ML solutions to production
- Holds a Master's or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Math, Operations Research, Physics, Economics, or another quantitative field
- Expertise in applied ML for Search/NLP/IR/Product Knowledge Graph, both classical and deep learning based, with additional familiarity in explore/exploit/MAB algorithms, LLMs, and causal inference techniques
- Proficient in Python for machine learning, with experience in PyTorch or TensorFlow preferred, and familiarity with Kotlin/Scala
- Strong communication skills to effectively convey technical details to non-technical stakeholders, and a growth-minded and collaborative mindset with a desire for impact
